Review by: Madeline Hobbs

Ted Dekker is an author you will see littered all over my bookshelves. He’s a firm favorite of mine, and I frequently buy his books without even reading the synopsis. Skin was the first book I ever read by him, and it has remained my very favorite of all his works. Check out the review below to determine if you should add it to your TBR!

Synopsis: Five strangers are trapped in a small desert town by a sadistic killer who forces them to confront their darkest secrets. With a storm closing in and no escape, they must choose the ugliest among them—or die. Reality twists, identity shatters, and nothing is what it seems in this chilling psychological game of survival.

TW: Themes of psychological abuse, cult living, and violence are present.

My Thoughts: This book had me firmly hooked on page one. The plot is intricate, the twists come out of nowhere, and the characters are developed perfectly. While being thrust in and out of two realities, one of which it seems cannot possibly be real, your mind is continually racing every time you turn the page. With short chapters and a fast pace to boot, I finished this book quickly and loved every second of it.
