Review by: Madeline Hobbs
With the back-to-school season officially upon us, I thought I would give you the perfect rec for all the fall and academic vibes floating around! The Intern is a high-stakes, intense thriller that hits all the right spots. With plot twists, dynamic characters, and the gripping backdrop of Harvard Law School, this book hooked me from page one. Will it be your next favorite?
Synopsis: When Harvard Law student Madison Rivera lands her dream internship with Judge Kathryn Conroy, she thinks her future is set. But everything shatters when she discovers her younger brother has been arrested—and Judge Conroy is the one presiding over his case. Drawn into a dangerous web of power, secrets, and corruption, Madison must decide how far she’s willing to go to protect her family… even if it means betraying the career she’s built her life around.
TW: Themes of parental death, domestic abuse, blackmail, and spousal death are present.

My Thoughts: I think we can all agree that most books set at Harvard Law are going to be pretty great. The Intern was no exception. With engaging changes in timeline, high personal stakes, and dark secrets lurking around every corner, this book was completely satisfying. I was truly kept guessing the entire book regarding how things were going to work out, which is exactly how I like it.
There were times when it felt a little bit slow, but those periods didn’t last long. I got this book finished in about a week and loved everything about the conclusion of the story.
